Joni A. Templeton is Of Counsel in the firm’s Business Litigation Group and is a seasoned regulatory and commercial litigator with extensive in-house experience representing investor-owned utilities before the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and state and federal legislative bodies. She has handled numerous CPUC proceedings from inception to implementation and has comprehensive knowledge about CPUC rules of practice and procedure. She has advised client organizations in identifying and resolving legal, regulatory, business and strategic issues related to matters such as resource adequacy, renewable portfolio standards, the California Independent System Operator tariff and general rate cases.
Practice Highlights:
- Represented investor-owned utilities in various proceedings before the CPUC, including General Rate Case Proceedings;
- Advised companies in developing regulatory compliance policies and procedures;
- Advised companies in identifying and resolving potential regulatory risk management and internal control issues.
Before joining Prospera Law, Joni was in-house legal counsel at Southern California Edison Company for over seven years. Prior to that, she practiced commercial litigation at Dewey Ballantine LLP and DLA Piper LLP, representing clients in complex business and real estate-related litigation in state and federal court.
During her free time, Joni enjoys reading, hiking, traveling and spending time by the ocean.
Joni earned her J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where she served as Managing Editor of the UCLA Law Review. She earned her A.B. in English Literature with Honors from UCLA and was admitted to Phi Beta Kappa.
Joni is admitted to practice in California, New York, and the District of Columbia.
